Do my photos leave my phone?
No. The photo stays in your browser on this device, and the text is read out of it on-device. Only the recognised text is sent to your AI TTS Microservice account to be turned into speech.
Do I need an account?
Yes. ScanToRead is included with AI TTS Microservice Pro and Enterprise plans. You connect it once by pasting an API key from your AI TTS Microservice dashboard, and the key stays on your device.
Does it use my credits?
Reading the photo is free and happens on your device. Turning that text into speech uses your AI TTS Microservice credits, at the same rate as anywhere else in your account.
What can it read well?
Printed English text: menus, letters, signs, worksheets, packaging. It is not built for handwriting, and a blurry or badly lit photo gives a blurry result.
